RAINBOW OVER THE RACEWAY

            Saturday July 14 brought rain to the surrounding area of Whiskey Lake Raceway, but not to the raceway itself.  Fans arrived

to see a rainbow overhead and their favorite drivers in the pits.  To get to Whiskey Lake one needs to exit 301 off of 70 and

take the frontage road by Marshall Air Field.  Races included Heats, Jerry Olivier Trophy Dashes, and Feature competition.

            The Jerry Olivier Street Stock Trophy Dash was sponsored by Jerry Olivier Custom Pool Cues at www.jocues.com. 

Steve Albrecht #7r won, passing the finish line 13 seconds before the rest of the competitors. 

For the Jerry Olivier B-Modified Trophy Dash Doug Thompson drove his way to the award. 

This proved to be difficult because of how highly competitive the B-Mod. Drivers are. 

Rough tough Quad racers thrilled the crowd with their daring driving behavior.  Brant Shane #1-7 captured first place. 

Shanes’ number is in memory of his father.  In second place was Doug Mock #19.  In third place was #27 Terry Mock. 

Combined Class Feature caused chaos between #4 Jay Bailey and # 01 Fred Traskowsky who collided off the track. 

This provided opportunity for #69 Eric Loquist to keep his lead and win first.  Second place went to #74 Chuck Roberts. 

Third place went to #01 Fred Traskowsky.  Fourth place went to #4 Jay Bailey.

Street Stock feature rocked the rivalry between #31% Brian Ryff and #7r Steve Albrecht.  Ryff’s two girls encouraged their dad to victory. 

Albrecht came in second with the same car he has had since 1983.  Third place was #57 Bobby Fiest.  Fourth place was #20

and fifth place was #33 Jerome Thomas.  In sixth place was #13 dean May.  In seventh place was #2^nd Del Vinsonhaler.

Josh Everhart #21J kicked the dust on his B-Modified Feature Race Competitors from the start.  Jerry Grandstaff #5g

and #14m Ed Muller had a confrontation and left the track.  The checkered flag went to 321j Everhart.  His favorite

part of the racing experience is “spending time with his girlfriend”.  John Welsh #1w came in second place. 

Welsh’s son Jacob helps him mechanically before the start of every race.  Doug Thompson #05 came in third.

Whiskey Lake Raceway fans can exit 301 off of highway 70 and take the frontage road that passes Marshall Field.  Fort Riley Car Show

is on July 28 and the Urban Legends car club will be passing out free tickets to the raceway.  July 14’s feature results are below.
